At Confidental Clinic Surbiton we offer high quality porcelain veneers to correct, reshape and hide discoloured, broken and crowded teeth. Many people who are embarrassed about their smiles and teeth could transform their smiles and confidence in as little as two visits with Porcelain veneers.
What Are Porcelain Veneers?
These are wafer like shells which are hand crafted by a master technician who with the appropriate prescription will shape the veneers to give the best appearance for your smile (similar to false fingernails for your hands). A variety of materials can be used but usual dental porcelain is commonly the best material for these purposes. They are glued onto the front surfaces of the teeth and polished once the fit and shape has been confirmed.
Can I Benefit from Porcelain Veneers?
If you have thin, chipped or discoloured teeth we can provide veneers to protect the weak portion of the tooth. It would be fitted over the whole of the front of the tooth and also repairing the chipped or thin portion of the tooth. Teeth which have permanent discolouration can also be masked with veneers by choosing a lighter shade.
Teeth which are crowded and misaligned where orthodontic braces are not suitable can also be corrected to look straighter with porcelain veneers. They are shaped to hide any uneven contours of the original teeth giving the perfect shape to your smile.
What is involved?
Having your teeth prepared for porcelain veneers is a very simple process. The front surfaces of the teeth are lightly prepared where needed. In some cases there is no preparation needed at all. In some cases no anaesthetic is required as only minimal tooth preparation is required.
An impression will be taken of the prepared tooth surfaces and the appropriate colour chosen for the veneer. A temporary veneer can be made if required and glued to the teeth until the new veneers have been made. Sometimes temporary veneers are not required since very little tooth has been removed, the teeth may feel slightly rough if this is the case.
The impressions are then sent to our master technician who will then fabricate the individual veneers to fit the teeth. At your second visit, the teeth are then cleaned and the veneers are tried in to check the fit and the appearance confirmed with you. A special dental adhesive is used to secure the veneers to the teeth.
How long do Veneers last?
The life expectancy of a veneer can vary depending on the factors such as material used and how well it is being maintained. On average however, veneers can give up to 15 years of service.
