Dental accident or raging toothache? What to do?

Many of us have been there, so we know the agony of a toothache or a dental emergency.  At Confidental Clinic in Surbiton, we try to accommodate all our emergencies within 24-48h whenever possible. Emergency nature:

Dental emergencies occur quite often and they are more common than you think. There are many factors why you would require a dental emergency service and we would like to discuss each of them below:

• Severe pain can start suddenly and it can be so severe making it hard to carry on with your daily activities. It is the most common and it can be the result of an untreated decay, which may have spread to the living part of the tooth (the pulp); it can also be caused by an abscess, gum disease or the eruption of a tooth. In many of these cases you will require a dental emergency appointment.  At Confidental Clinic Surbiton our focus will be to take you out of pain on that day; however you need to be aware that we may temporarily fix the problem; hence further appointments may be required to fully treat the source of your pain.
• A broken, lost or chipped tooth may require an emergency service, especially if it causes pain or the tooth has sharp edges. You may have lost or broken your tooth in an accident, perhaps from biting into something hard. Depending on the condition of your tooth the dentist will take a number of factors into consideration when deciding how to treat the issue. We will try to fix the problem on the same day but if you need a crown, veneer or a new filling you will need additional visits.
• A lost crown, veneer, failed filling or the damage of an orthodontic appliance need to be addressed as soon as possible and could fall into the emergency category
