How we help anxious patients at our Surbiton dental practice.
Does the thought of undergoing a dental procedure fill you with fear, worry and trepidation, leaving you to endure the pain and discomfort of toothache, rather than see your dentist for treatment?
An estimated one in four of us dreads a visit to the dentist, so you’re not alone. Here at the Confidental Clinic in Surbiton, we fully understand that for many of our patients, undergoing even the simplest of dental procedures can be a very anxious and stressful time. We therefore offer a variety of treatments to help to alleviate the stress and anxiety associated with a visit to us.
Treatment for the nervous patient in Surbiton
We often find that patients who are suffering from anxiety on their visit, are concerned that they will have to sit through uncomfortable, or possibly even painful treatment. This is usually the case if they have suffered a bad experience at a dentist in the past, maybe as a child or young adult.
We strive to ensure that this will not happen when you visit us at the Confidental Clinic. All of your treatments and procedures will be given in the comfort of our modern, friendly and relaxing practice, by a dedicated and caring team of dental practitioners. Our practice uses the very latest anaesthetics, and our practitioners are fully trained to ensure that the care that you receive is at all times exemplary and pain free. We consider our care of you to be failing, if you are not totally comfortable at all times whilst undergoing a procedure.
Here at your convenient Surbiton dentist, we also offer a range of sedation treatments for anyone who is nervous and apprehensive about having any kind of dental treatment. Clients can choose to have either intravenous sedation, or oral sedation, which will help them feel relaxed and calm about their dental care.
What is Sedation?
Sedation is the reduction of dental anxiety or fears by the administration of a sedative. This generally involves taking medication, either orally through a tablet, or intravenously through an injection into the arm. This takes away the anxiety, and can make you feel quite sleepy. You will still be conscious during the procedure, but will be free of anxiety and worry. With intravenous sedation, the levels can be continuously adjusted to suit your needs, therefore relieving your anxiety for even the longest procedure.
Sedation can usually be provided for any treatment, and is suitable for almost every patient. So if you think that sedation may be of interest to you, or if you are in anyway concerned or anxious about an upcoming appointment, then please call and speak to one of our experienced dental care professionals at Confidental Clinic Surbiton, on 020 8399 1291, to see how we can help you to overcome your fears.
